In June 2022, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) was founded as a higher education institution governed jointly by the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The university is situated in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, a highly active and vibrant region in the world. The State Council of the People's Republic of China has issued the "Overall Plan of Nansha of Guangzhou for Deepening the Comprehensive Global Cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao," which has aided in the establishment and growth of the university.

HKUST(GZ) aims to craft an innovative approach to cross-disciplinary education and research and to meet the needs of an ever-evolving world. To address the increasingly complex challenges in this rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) has adopted a unique academic structure that features "Hubs" and "Thrusts" instead of "Schools" and "Departments". About the Information Hub 

The HKUST(GZ) Information Hub focuses on addressing global challenges arising from human interactions with information and technology in an era of digital transformation. The Hub comprises four thrust areas: Artificial Intelligence(AI), Data Science and Analytics(DSA), Computational Media and Arts(CMA), and Internet of Things(IoT). In each of these areas, we are committed to providing a world-class education and conducting cutting-edge research with practical applications, with the purpose of not only advancing regional development but also making a global impact. 

The HKUST(GZ) Information Hub is recruiting course Lecturer for INFH 5000: Information Science and Technology: Essentials and Trends. This inquiry-based course aims to introduce students to the concepts and skills needed to drive digital transformation in the information age. Students will learn to conduct research, explore real-world applications, and discuss grand challenges in the four thrust areas(AI,CMA,DSA and IoT). We welcome applicants with research focus in one of the following areas, including but not limited to: 

  • Digital transformation: concepts and skills.
  • Artificial Intelligence: recent research and real-world applications.
  • Data Science and Analytics: recent research and real-world applications.
  • Internet of Things: recent research and real-world applications.
  • Computational Media and Arts: recent research and real-world applications.
  • Grand challenges in Information Science and Technology.
  • Digital Media: the development and investigation of digital media

The course incorporates various teaching and learning formats including lectures, seminars, online courses, group discussions, and a term project. Applicants must have a PhD degree in relevant fields. Applicant should have proven teaching commitment and performance, experience and readiness in cross disciplinary curriculum and program design, and demonstrated service to the academic community and/or the public.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

Salary is highly competitive of international standard and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment to teaching-track faculty (TTF) will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to 3 years with a term review after 3 years of service, and is renewable subject to performance, mutual agreement and funding availability.
