Senior AV Engineer

Kingston University – IT Services

The Role

You will work as part of the AV Team working within IT Services across all Kingston University sites to provide AV assistance to our stakeholders, this includes incident management, assisting with requests, event support and project work. Our service area covers over 300 AV spaces including teaching rooms, lecture theatres, event spaces, meeting rooms, digital signage plus ad-hoc events.

The role varies throughout the academic year and at times will be focused primarily on incidents and will have periods of concentrating on preventive maintenance and project work. At times the role will require support for university events which includes some out of hours work.

As the Senior AV Engineer, you will be expected to deputise for the AV manager when required and be capable of assisting and training other AV Engineers and IT Services colleagues.

The Person

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of AV systems used in Higher Educational spaces and modern AV technologies. The ability to work under pressure with excellent problem-solving skills is essential, you will often be expected to resolve issues in a live environment. You will be able to react quickly to high priority incidents to enable excellent service for our AV stakeholders.

You will be required to have a focus on customer service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential, communicating directly with customers, vendors, support partners and documenting resolution details. As the University is over several sites, you will be comfortable working independently for periods. You must be able to plan and prioritise workloads during busy periods to ensure the needs of university stakeholders are met.

Directorate/Function

Information and Technology Services provides and supports digital services and facilities for students and staff to enable learning, teaching, research and administration. Our key functions are to innovate, implement and support an extensive range of digital services across the University to assist our community access and process information to achieve their goals.

Further Information

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £37,646 per annum.
