The British National Surveys of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles (Natsal- www.natsal.ac.uk) are large probability-sample bio-behavioural surveys.

We have an exciting opportunity for 3 Research Assistants/Research Fellows with a strong interest in data, public health, and epidemiology to work with the Natsal Team.

About the role

The postholder will;

  • carry out analyses of the Natsal-4 quantitative data;
  • produce tables of results;
  • assist with the interpretation of the results;
  • assist with the writing of outputs including papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
  • keep an accurate and clear record of statistical programmes used for analyses (e.g. Stata ‘do’ files);
  • prepare and present the results at conferences and for other dissemination activities.

These posts are available full time (i.e. 36.5 hours per week) but Part-time and Job-share applications are also considered. Posts are available part-time for a minimum of 26 hours per week.

These posts are based at the Mortimer Market Centre, London, WC1E 6JB with opportunities for hybrid working in line with UCL Policy and project requirements.

These posts are available from October 2024 for 16 months in the first instance.

Appointment will be made at Grade 6B unless the applicant has been awarded a PhD or has equivalent substantial working experience in epidemiology, statistics, public health, social sciences or a related discipline when appointment will be made at Grade 7.

Salary range:
Grade 6B: £37,332 to £39,980 per annum (including London Allowance)

Grade 7: £42,099 to £50,585 per annum (including London Allowance)

About you

The candidates must have excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills and demonstrate a strong teamwork ethic, while also being able to work on their own initiative.

The ideal candidates will be organised, with meticulous attention to detail and record keeping, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to organise their own workload and supervise the work of others. They will have a PhD (or master’s degree, in the case of Grade 6B) in epidemiology/a related discipline, or equivalent substantial experience, and experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
