About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Lignani Research Group, based in the department, and use electrophysiology and molecular biology in human models of neurological diseases. The project is funded by the GOSH Charity programme of research aimed at developing therapies for childhood diseases.

The role is available from June 2024 and funded for two years in the first instance.

About you

You will hold a PhD or equivalent in Neuroscience or a related field. You should have hands-on experience with iPSC-derived organoids as therapeutic models, electrophysiological measures of iPSC-derived neurons, and using CRISPR-Cas9 to genetically edit iPSC lines. Additionally, you should have experience in advanced molecular biology methods and neurological disease modelling.

Proficiency in electrophysiological and imaging data processing, statistical analysis programs, and strong problem-solving skills with exceptional written and oral communication abilities are also essential.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

What we offer

Starting salary offered at £42,099 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Appointment as Research Fellow is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be as Research Assistant (salary £37,332 - £39,980 per annum) with appointment as Research Fellow being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
