This full-time permanent post is available from the 1 June 2024.

Largely based on the Penryn Campus, the Sustainable Futures team lead a programme of environment, sustainability and circular economy research, education and industrial engagement. With around 30 full-time staff the group offers new, visionary, interdisciplinary taught courses and executive education and also leads regional, national and international research projects exploring societies grand challenges, from a management perspective. The team engage extensively with industrial partners by providing Executive Education programmes including the delivery of UK Government, Help to Grow.  

The role

The post of Lecturer in Sustainable Business & Management will be to develop and deliver research and education focussed on the effective management and/or social or industrial uptake of sustainability, circular economy or climate change/Net Zero. The post will also support students as they learn the various key aspects of the theory and practice of management. You will also help to manage relationships with our extensive network research collaborators and regional businesses, that have been built up by the team in Penryn.

The post will include leading research studies, creating impact and engagement and also designing and delivering taught modules, workshops, flipped-classroom learning opportunities and applying contemporary practices in Business and Management.  It will also include supporting students through their learning journey, mentoring personal tutees and working to support out flagship With Industrial Experience and With Study Abroad programmes as appropriate. 

About you

For a Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of circular economy, environment or sustainability to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field.
  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge in Management demonstrated by a relevant PhD or equivalent, of the core research capability and knowledge relating to our departmental strengths, in order to teach and support learning on our modules;
  • Evidence of excellent teaching, (including Executive Education) identified by peer review and the ability to use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students and mature learners;
  • Participate in and develop external networks, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, secure research projects, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities;
  • Be expected to work towards Fellow of the HEA status and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
