This new part-time (0.5FTE) post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2028.

Summary of the role

The key purpose of the post is to support meaningful and co-ordinated involvement of public members in the activities of SPIINNET. SPIINNET stands for Sustainable prevention, innovation and involvement network. This network includes researchers from universities across the UK and will support innovation and engagement in research on dementia prevention. The network is funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). 

The public involvement co-ordinator will focus on engaging members of the public in dementia prevention research. Public members include people identifying as patients with dementia and carers of people with dementia, who has an interest in contributing to health and social care research. The post holder will be a main point of contact between public members and researchers, provide administration and support effective relationships to foster partnership.

The public co-ordinator will work closely with network partner organisations and individuals who will be collaborating with the network on public involvement activities. While this is a national network, the secretariat (network manager, administrator and public co-ordinator) will be based at the University of Exeter.

This post is based at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Department of Health and Community Sciences. The post holder will be employed within the SPIINNET research programme. The post holder will be part of a thriving public involvement group spanning other research programmes that have invested in staff to support public involvement in health and social care research.
