We're excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join Birkbeck, University of London, as our Faculty Office and Governance Manager. This key role supports the activities of the Faculty and the schools within it, and offers a chance to join a vibrant, diverse and forward-thinking academic community.

As our Faculty Office and Governance Manager within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the administrative staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Recording and reporting on sensitive and confidential personal data
  • Servicing faculty committees and liaising with the college governance system and structures
  • Assisting with diary management for members of the faculty executive
  • Monitoring and reporting on staff training requirements
  • Overseeing health and safety matters within the faculty.

This role requires a flexible approach to work and a willingness to engage in business process improvement and the development of new administrative processes and teams.

We're looking for a candidate with:

  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Office, and a willingness to learn bespoke systems
  • Proven ability to define priorities, work flexibly and effectively, and meet demanding deadlines
  • Commitment to equality and diversity, and a willingness to engage in training and development activities.

If you've previously held roles such as Faculty Administrator, Governance Coordinator, Office Manager, Administrative Supervisor, or Operations Manager, this position could be a great fit for you.

Remuneration

Annual salary £37,143 rising to £42,365. The salary, Grade 6, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
