About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic CIPS qualified professional to continue the development of the procurement function at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) in order to achieve cost savings and/or improved quality of service on AUB’s annual spend.
You will have an interest in sustainability and assist in achieving the university’s ambitious Net Zero targets. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of a procurement strategy and plan and be responsible for the application of procedures that will ensure AUB budget holders efficiently purchase goods and services at best value for money and in compliance with legislation. You will investigate and implement procurement tools including but not limited to virtual cards, travel management services, process workflows etc.
Excellent communication and influencing skills are required to engage with AUB staff at all levels with varying degrees of understanding of procurement. It is essential that you strategically manage suppliers to secure a quality service and engage in collaborative arrangements and frameworks that are prevalent in the higher education sector.
You will have comprehensive experience working in procurement and have a track record in achieving cost reduction and value enhancement targets. Some experience of Public Sector Procurement is desirable, but it is recognised that a wider experience also brings with it new ideas and opportunities. This role may also be suitable for an individual who wishes to progress to their first management position.
Our benefits
In meeting your performance expectations, each year you’ll have a salary increase in line with the grade of your role. As well as this there is an annual cost of living increase. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment. Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website https://aub.ac.uk/working-at-aub.
AUB has an agile working policy, and flexible working can be considered. If you require support with your application or have any questions about the role or recruitment process, please email recruitment@aub.ac.uk . If you are disabled, we are committed to supporting you with any reasonable adjustments you require, so please email recruitment@aub.ac.uk and we’ll be in touch.
We look forward to receiving your application.
