This is an exciting chance to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University in a beautiful location, where you can really make a difference. 

The Brain Imaging Centre within the Faculty of Health, University of Plymouth is a new cutting edge facility for Neuroscience research. This post is based within the newly equipped Motor Control Laboratory that investigates the sensorimotor control of human movement in health and disease. 

This post involves being part of a multi-centre NIHR funded trial of Functional electrical stimulation in people with Parkinson’s. You will be involved in training the blinded measurement assessors around the UK in the use of the objective measures that predict or assess the proposed mechanisms of action of the intervention. This includes measures of sensory discrimination in the leg, dynamic balance and walking and bradykinesia. You will be involved in the analysis of the time series data collected using programs written in MATLAB™ and entry into the clinical trials database. You will be working alongside a team of clinical reserachers across the country in particular with the Plymouth Clinical Trials Unit and Salisbury NHS trust based team including Professor Paul Taylor, the study chief investigator. 

You will have experience in collecting research data from humans ideally in the area of biomechanics or motor control. You will be able to show evidence of excellent research data management and governance and skills in programming in MATLAB™. You will be able to work independently, have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a distributed team.

This is a part-time position working 7.4 hours per week (0.2 FTE) on a fixed-term basis for 37 months due to funding.
