Majan University College (MUC), founded in 1995, is an accredited college of the University of Bedfordshire, UK. MUC is the first private higher education institution (HEI) to be established in Oman. It is one of the largest private sector HEIs and it provides a range of UK degrees which are taught in English. It is the FIRST higher education institution to achieve its institutional accreditation by the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA).
We are looking to recruit a member of academic staff in the grade of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics to join our friendly and dedicated team at the Faculty of English Language Studies.
Candidates are expected to contribute widely to our BA (Hons) English Language degree, and be capable of teaching in four or more of the following areas: Introduction to Linguistics, Language & Society, English Phonology & Phonetics, Varieties of English, Corpus-based English Study, English Syntax, Semantics & Pragmatics, Language & Technology, Theories of Language Learning, Spoken & Written Discourse, and Second Language Acquisition.
Qualifications and experience:
- Masters/PhD in the relevant discipline
- Ideally, at least 3 years’ relevant work experience
- Excellent IT skills and familiarity with recent developments in educational technology
- Excellent classroom interaction skills and interest in innovative pedagogy
- Good research publications record for senior grades
