This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented researcher to join the Driving the Electrical Revolution Industrialisation Centre at the University of Nottingham and contribute to the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group (PEMC). Your research will focus on electrical machines, drives, design, materials, thermal management, control, and testing. The purpose of the role is to contribute to projects with key industrial partners in the field of electrical machines. Knowledge in topics related to testing electrical machines, drives and materials are required.?
The PEMC research group has grown exponentially and now has over 200 members, 24 academics and circa 130 PhD students, researchers, and engineers. The group offers state-of-the-art facilities spanning 3500m², capable of handling up to 5MW for construction and testing.
The purpose of the role is to contribute to projects with key industrial partners in the field of electrical machines. Knowledge in topics related to insulation systems design and characterisation, dielectric materials, testing methods and electric and magnetic fields modelling is desirable. This is an innovative and growing area of research, and we are open to applicants who may have alternative transferable skills to contribute to this area. Here are some examples of the type of expertise we are looking for, however this list is not exhaustive and exclusive:
Candidates should have or be nearing completion of a PhD in electrical (high voltage) engineering or electrical insulating materials.
The post is offered initially on a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract for 24 months, with continuation subject to growth in the research area. Job share arrangements may be considered.
