We are seeking a full-time Researcher in Performance Evaluation of AI/ML Models for the JADE2 Tier-2 Compute Centre. This opportunity focuses on using cutting edge computer hardware, specifically NVIDIA and AMD GPUs and machine learning models to better understand performance trade-offs between different types of hardware for different machine learning models. This is a fixed term contract post until 31 March 2025.
The successful candidate will join the Scientific Computing Group in Engineering Science, University of Oxford. The group, led by Prof Wes Armour, focuses on understanding and improving methods to extract scientific meaning from data.
The group uses techniques such as machine learning, computational modelling and simulation, and signal processing to do this. Specifically, we aim to solve seemingly computationally intractable problems through the development of novel numerical algorithms and the use of cutting-edge computing technologies.
Projects typically focus on big data, for example data produced through simulation on some of the world’s largest computers or data gathered by the world’s leading radio telescopes. To ensure our work has real-world impact, we collaborate closely with leading international technology companies, such as NVIDIA, Intel, AMD and ARM.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Wes Armour (wes.armour@oerc.ox.ac.uk).
