Oxford Population Health (the Nuffield Department of Population Health) provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching and for professional and support staff. We work together to answer some of the most important questions about the causes, prevention and treatment of disease.
We are seeking a Software/Data Engineer to develop and implement software tools and data services that support collaborative, large-scale, data-driven health research.
You will be responsible for managing large-scale quantitative datasets and helping to investigate new data sources for record linkage purposes to better characterise health outcomes and their sub-types.
To be considered, you must hold (or close to completion of) a PhD in computer science, mathematics, software engineering or another relevant discipline. Strong skills in relevant programming languages, JavaScript, Java, Groovy, Python, and SQL and excellent understanding of data models, data structures, and data formats, including JSON and XML would be essential. You also have excellent communication skills, including the ability to present research proposals and results.
This is a full time, fixed term post (part time considered) for 2 years.
