About the Role
Applicants are invited to apply for an Assistant Teaching Technician position in the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences (SBBS), to provide day-to-day support for the preparation of experiments undertaken in teaching laboratories.

Working under the supervision of the Senior Teaching Technician the post holder will assist in the set up and clearing of laboratory practical’s, ensuring that teaching spaces are kept clean in preparation for the next practical. You will keep an inventory of consumables and equipment, making sure that they are maintained at sufficient levels and safely stored and where necessary reporting faults for repair or replacement.

The posts are permanent and full-time during term time only (from September to May, 38 weeks)

About You
You should have an academic/vocational qualification preferably in a STEM field or the equivalent experience, have customer facing experience and good MS Office skills with the ability to adapt to new systems. You will have the physical ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and a good understanding of health and safety regulations. A commitment to working flexibly as part of a team and on a rota basis is also essential.

The School of Biological & Behavioural Sciences is one of five Schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. It is one of the largest Schools at Queen Mary University of London, with approximately 1800 students and c100 academic staff members, who carry out excellent education, research and public engagement activities, with support from 27 administrative staff and over 30 technical staff.
