Master of Science in Behavioral and Computational Economics
Salary: Full Tuition Fees and Research Assistantship
The Economic Science Institute (ESI) at Chapman University in Orange, California have a number of full scholarships, plus potential research assistantships, for its two year research focused Master degree program in Behavioural and Computational Economics (MSBCE) for its upcoming fall 2026 intake. The program is geared towards students with keen interest in designing systems that consider human behaviour in e-commerce, finance, health, energy, and public and private sector resource management. The MSBCE program is inspired by the experimental economics approach developed by ESI founder Vernon Smith, winner of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Economics.
In this intimate program, you will work alongside the internationally renowned research faculty, you will learn to investigate human behaviour in complex interactive systems using human subject experiments, computational modeling, and advanced data analysis techniques. You will have the opportunity to apply these skills to undertake rigorous scientific inquiry into the design, testing and implementation of novel systems for efficient trade, provision of services, scheduling of activities, and distribution of resources.
This innovative master’s program is open to any student with strong technical backgrounds. It complements students with undergraduate or master’s degrees in engineering, economics, computer science, physics, psychology, and mathematics. It uniquely prepares them for future employment and or graduate study.
Graduates are employed by companies such as Google, Toyota, Deloitte, Deepmind, Nike, Cornerstone Research, Core Logic, and CGI Technologies. Furthermore, graduates who have decided to pursue a PhD went to universities such as the California Institute of Technology, University of Virginia, Pennsylvania State University, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, Stockholm School of Economics, and the University of Notre Dame.
