Williams College (USA) invites applications for a Director of Administration to lead the financial, personnel and operational management of its long‑established study‑abroad programme in Oxford. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, close‑knit academic community and play a central role in supporting 26 visiting undergraduate students each year in partnership with Exeter College, Oxford.

About the Programme

The Williams College Oxford Programme offers selected students full access to Oxford University’s academic resources while immersing them in the tutorial system. The programme has been based at Exeter College for over 40 years. More information can be found at https://exeter.williams.edu.

About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at Williams College, and working closely with the Faculty Director in Oxford, the Director of Administration oversees the programme’s business operations, logistics and administrative continuity. The role manages a small team of 3–4 staff and serves as a key liaison with Exeter College, local governing bodies, and statutory organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial administration and budget oversight
  • Personnel management and supervision of programme staff
  • Property and facilities management
  • Health and safety compliance
  • Hospitality and catering coordination
  • Student support, including immigration documentation and employment assignments
  • Liaison with the Charity Commission, Companies House, and the Association of American Study Abroad Programmes in the UK

Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Significant experience in academic administration or study‑abroad programme management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational, quantitative and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and exercise sound judgement
  • Experience supervising staff is desirable
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
