The School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University is seeking to appoint Lecturers in Law at Grade 6 or Grade 7 on the Teaching & Research/Teaching & Scholarship career pathway.
We are recruiting for a total of four Lecturer in Law posts across two concurrent recruitment campaigns: Teaching & Scholarship and Teaching & Research. Appointments may be made at Grade 6 or Grade 7 depending on candidates’ experience, achievements and career stage.
A maximum of two appointments across both campaigns will be made at Grade 7, with successful candidates required to meet the Grade 7 criteria set out below.
We welcome applications from talented and committed individuals working in any area of Law. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates whose expertise would enhance our teaching and academic strengths in commercial law, private and property law, medical law, or public law.
We are seeking colleagues who are passionate about legal education and committed to providing an excellent student experience. Successful candidates will have a strong record of, or clear potential for, excellence in teaching and research, with an ambitious research agenda that supports and/or expands the School's research strengths.
Applicants should normally hold a PhD in Law or a related discipline by the time the post begins. Candidates nearing completion of their PhD may be considered for appointment at Grade 6. We also welcome applications from those who can demonstrate equivalent professional expertise and experience.
The successful candidates will contribute to our research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, the research life and outputs of the School, student support and supervision, and by helping to shape the wider academic life of the School. They will also work collaboratively with colleagues across the University and contribute to the effective running of the Department and School.
These are open-ended positions. We welcome applications from candidates seeking full-time, part-time, flexible working or job-share arrangements, subject to operational requirements.
For informal enquiries about these opportunities, please contact the Head of Law at lawpl-management@cardiff.ac.uk.
Applicants are required to clearly indicate within their application the specific role for which they are applying, specifying either:
Salary:
£41,885 - £46,970 per annum (Grade 6) or
£52,788 - £57,666 per annum (Grade 7)
Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at the bottom of the relevant scale, unless in exceptional circumstances.
