Postdoctoral Research Associate - Medicinal Chemistry

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a highly motivated Medicinal Chemistry team working under the supervision of Professors Steve Davies and Angela Russell. The project is funded by OxStem Oncology.

You should hold a PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology, or have submitted a thesis in one of these subjects prior to taking up the appointment. You will have expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and/or will have experience in medicinal chemistry, drug discover/development and screening. You will have experience in modern organic synthesis and a working knowledge of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery/development. You will be able to design and execute reaction sequences in organic synthesis. You will have the ability to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and reefing working hypotheses as appropriate.

You will be required to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will be able to adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols.

The post will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford OX1 3QT, and is available as soon as possible.
