Clinical Lecturer in Orthodontics (0.3 - 0.6 FTE, flexible)

College of Medicine and Dentistry was established in 2018 as an independent private provider of higher education, the first of its kind, with a focus on delivering postgraduate education. The College provides a variety of long and short-term courses. Its 3-year long-term programmes offer a structured learning pathway leading to a Master's degree, while the short-term courses focus on developing the skills of the wider dental team. The College collaborates closely with its Hospital Partner to enrich graduate students’ education through access to clinical cases.

Orthodontics Programme

This is a 3-year full-time programme integrating clinical and theoretical teaching. It includes didactic sessions, seminars, practicals, and online learning, covering topics like Orthodontic Assessment, Basic Sciences, Treatment Planning, Biomechanics, and more. Teaching is provided by experienced specialists.

The key focus of the role is to deliver, examine, and develop the Orthodontics programme, supporting assessment and ensuring high-quality outcomes. Responsible for managing teaching delivery, student progress, and contributing to curriculum development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high quality didactic, practical, and clinical teaching
  • Assist in delivery of evidence-based teaching and assessments
  • Develop and evaluate modules
  • Supervise clinical work
  • Participate in programme development
  • Maintain academic standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty activities
  • Assess student progress and mentor them
  • Support student career pathways
  • Supervise research and contribute to college research activity
  • Coordinate with administrators, produce reports, manage feedback

Job Plan 

The role will primarily be carried out on COMD sites (or online), from Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required. Time off in lieu will be provided.

Hours per Week: 0.3 to 0.6 FTE, flexible hours and working pattern. 

Probation: 6 months

Key Working Relationships: Dean, Chief Operating Officer, Programme Lead, Director of Academic Affairs, Other Programme Leads, Module Leads, Assessment Team, IT & VLE Team, Others

Annual Leave: 15 days (exclusive of bank holidays), based on a full allowance of 25 days. Leave may not be possible during key term periods.

Other Requirements: Adherence to College policies, including health and safety, equality, and professional development. Participation in annual appraisals and achieving agreed personal development objectives.
