Lecturer: Institute for Global Health and Development

Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh - School of Health Sciences

The Institute for Global Health and Development is a multi-disciplinary centre for postgraduate education and research addressing contemporary health and development challenges in low and middle income countries and their connection to global systems and trends. Marked by a commitment to critical thinking, practice engagement, and social justice, over its more than twenty-five year history it has equipped over five hundred Masters and doctoral alumni from sub-Saharan Africa, South and East Asia, Europe and Americas for work in the health, development and humanitarian sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Institute as it enters a new phase of its development with an emphasis on integrating e-learning into its teaching programme (facilitated by a major collaborative Erasmus+ award) and focused research initiatives in areas where the Institute can claim global leadership, notably with respect to health systems in fragile and low-income settings and psychosocial well-being, protection and integration.

We welcome applications from individuals with doctoral qualification in the area of global health to contribute to, and further shape the Institute’s teaching agenda. We will particularly welcome those who have expertise in relation to sexual and reproductive health, and quantitative and qualitative research methods.

You will see teaching classes of students from diverse disciplinary and cultural backgrounds as a privilege and opportunity. You will welcome supervision of doctoral students wishing to work on issues related to your interests. You will be passionate about your research agenda, and will be capable of demonstrating strong capability for publication and securing funding.

Informal enquires, without obligation, are welcome and should be directed in the first instance by email to Dr. Pol De Vos, Deputy Director, IGHD at pdevos@qmu.ac.uk
