The University of Würzburg aims to install the research professorship initially for 6 years with the option of a permanent position. The research professorship will be established at the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology and Biometry (Chair: Prof. Dr. P. U. Heuschmann). The professorship will represent the disciplines Health Services Research and Public Health at the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg in research and teaching.
The professorship shall develop, implement and evaluate innovative health services research projects (e.g. within the areas health care for chronic diseases or rehabilitation research). The applicant is expected to cooperate with existing institutions and main research areas of the University and the University Hospital Würzburg such as the Comprehensive Heart Failure Centre Würzburg, the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Mainfranconia or the Transregional Network for Stroke Intervention with Telemedicine. Main methodological research areas may comprise establishing new methods for needs assessment (e.g. routine dataset analysis) or applying innovative evaluation methodologies in health services research (e.g. complex intervention studies). Cooperation with other institutions in Bavaria in the field of Health Services Research and Public Health is expected.
The teaching activities will comprise the integration of health services research and public health aspects in existing teaching modules of the Medical Faculty, including e.g. the core curriculum of the Medical School, the Elite Graduate Program “Translational Medicine” or the Section “Clinical Sciences” within the “Graduate School of Life Sciences”. The applicant should have an excellent publication track and have raised significant amounts of external funds. All applicants have to fully identify themselves with the underlying research theme `Health Services Research and Public Health´.
Requirements include: a university degree, a thesis (“Promotion”), "Habilitation" or an equivalent level of scientific qualification and academic teaching ability.
