Job Summary
For this new and exciting Fellowship opportunity, we are looking for exceptional candidates with a PhD, strong epidemiological and quantitative skills and broad experience in research on environment and health. This fellowship aims to support the development of an c independent researcher within a stimulating, multidisciplinary working environment, that will provide a platform to fulfil long-term career goals.
Candidates are required to produce a research proposal describing their plans to carry out an innovate and collaborative research programme in the UK Small Area Health Statistics Unit (SAHSU) within the MRC Centre for Environment and Health (MRC-CEH). Proposals must relate to the theme of Social and Environmental Determinants of Healthy Ageing and relevant to the Unit’s research scope:
This Fellowship offers an opportunity for an experienced and collaborative epidemiologist to join the multidisciplinary team in SAHSU to advance research into how social, environmental and household factors influence the health of ageing populations. Candidates will develop and undertake a research programme to provide insights into policy, public health intervention and wider public services. This research will use and develop the SAHSU research database, a secure repository of national demographic data from the Office for National Statistics and health and healthcare utilisation information from NHS England that is geo-spatially linked to social and environmental exposure data.
Candidates will also join the Health Data Research UK Social and Environmental Determinants of Health Driver Programme (HDRUK-SEDH) and contribute to establishing national infrastructure and methods to link localised social and environmental health-related data to longitudinal administrative records.
