The School of History is an innovative leader in a wide range of historical fields, and is renowned for its dynamic and supportive research environment.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer to teach and develop modules in the history of European and/or British Art in any period since 1700. The post is a fixed term contract to provide cover for a colleague who has been awarded an AHRC grant.

Candidates are expected to have experience in running modules independently and in the second year of the appointment they would be asked to develop modules of their own. In the first semester of the appointment (January-June 2019) they would be required to teach an already existing module on ‘London and its Museums’. They will take part in the care of students, assessment and admissions‐related activities.

The successful candidate should be educated to PhD level (or equivalent), together with demonstrable experience in research with an appropriate publication record. Experience of teaching at undergraduate level, the ability to communicate new and complex information effectively, engaging the interest and enthusiasm of the target audience and good organisational skills, are also essential.

The post is full time, and fixed term for 20 months, with a start date of on or around 1 January 2019. Starting salary will be within the range of £40,865 - £43,152 per annum. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
