The Department of Anthropology at Shandong University in Jinan, China invites applications for two or three full-time, tenure-track faculty positions in any rank in socio-cultural anthropology, effective March 2019 and September 2019. Geographical areas broadly cover East Asia and the adjacent territories. Theoretical fields are open. Successful candidates will be expected to teach and supervise students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.Classes are taught in English and in Chinese. The positions are open until filled.

Candidates must hold a PhD in socio-cultural anthropology by the time appointments are made in March 2019 for the first round and September 2019 for the second round. Applicants are invited to submit: 1) a cover letter that addresses research and teaching goals, 2) a resumé, 3) a sample publication of their research, 4) and the names and contact information of three references. Established in 2011, the department is one of the three anthropology departments in PRC to offer B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. All but one faculty members have obtained their Ph.D. from universities outside PRC. We look forward to adding colleagues - either Chinese or foreign nationals - ready to contribute to a chapter in the Chinese anthropology history.
