Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Electrical Energy Management Group within the Faculty of Engineering. The Group's research explores the challenges of high efficiency electrical energy conversion systems for applications in aircraft, hybrid vehicles and renewable power generation. Much of this research involves theoretical analyses combined with concept demonstration and test.
Recent award of research funding has generated an opportunity for the appointment of a post-doctoral researcher to support the Group's research into the thermal management of electrical machine drives. You should be educated to postdoctoral degree level and have experience in thermal and loss analyses of electrical machines and/or wound components. A track record in the design and implementation of experimental methods for validating thermal and electromagnetic loss parameters is desirable.
You will join an internationally leading team developing computational efficient design and analysis tools for electrical drives. Working in close collaboration with industry partners the research will be applied in the development of disruptive electric propulsion technologies to be used in future electric vehicles and aircraft. The post-holders will be encouraged and supported to attend international conferences, and to publish research findings in high-impact journals.
The appointments will be offered at a Grade I Research Associate Profile, on an open-ended basis with funding confirmed for a period of up to two years initially.
Interviews will take place shortly after the application deadline.
We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
