We are seeking an experienced researcher to develop an integrated urban infrastructure spatial decision support analytics and visualisation platform. You will work with an interdisciplinary group in the Newcastle Spatial Analytics and Modelling Lab (SAM@Newcastle) to integrate a suite of database management systems, simulation models and related analytics to deliver a spatial decision support visualisation platform for real-time decision making and long-term spatial planning of urban infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in the development of spatial data visualisation software (for example, experience in WebGL, python visualisation packages (e.g., vispy)). Experience with Virtual Reality (VR) and/or Augmented Reality (AR), and the use of gaming technology for visualisation purposes would be beneficial.
The appointee will be based in the recently established Spatial Analytics and Modelling Lab (SAM) and become a member of the Geomatics research group. You will work closely with a team of spatial data management, big data, cloud computing, spatial and infrastructure modelling experts. The post will provide an opportunity to work with the UKCRIC DAFNI facility (Data and Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure) run by the Science and Technology Facilities Council and engage with the Alan Turing national centre for data science.
