Main Purpose of the Post.

The University’s Academic Services provides high quality professional services to students, staff and external stakeholders. 

Academic Services is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the fast paced, ever-changing, service-focused Academic Quality Services team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and resilient person with a positive mindset who thrives on challenge and can solve problems innovatively and creatively, focused on delivering an excellent service for our customers.  Ideally the successful candidate will be comfortable with using and analysing data to shape their work, and be fully committed to continuous professional development.  The successful applicant will be responsible for working in partnership with key stakeholders including academic staff and students within the University’s Academic Colleges, providing pro-active and effective support across all aspects of Academic Quality Services’ provision, including regulations and policy, quality assurance processes, external engagement and curriculum design, all designed to enhance the student experience. The post-holder will have a specific focus on the support and continuous enhancement of Academic Quality Services’ management of Programme Approval, the academic portfolio and the integrated Quality Review process, designed to assure and enhance the student experience, and deliver new and revised programmes to drive the University’s strategic recruitment and growth, contributing to curriculum design and development.

Person Specification:

  • Undergraduate qualification or relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience of providing high quality, responsive customer-focused advice, guidance and support for a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of delivering with impact and achieving demanding targets.
  • Proven ability to operate resiliently in a challenging environment.
  • Proven experience of high quality, efficient analytical writing.
  • Proven experience of working in effective teams.
  • A positive and engaging approach coupled with a proven ability and desire to learn, analyse and use information, including data, quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to present information effectively to varied audiences across a range of platforms, formats and media.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple work streams and projects, with ability to prioritise work to meet conflicting and demanding deadlines, maintaining attention to detail throughout.
  • The ability to creatively approach problems and propose innovative solutions.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of quality assurance processes to business processes.
  • Excellent IT skills and an understanding of how systems can be used to enhance processes.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development, including monitoring developments within curriculum and programme design, student expectations and sector-wide developments.
