BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC) is located in Zhuhai, one of the most environmental-friendly cities in China, with Hong Kong to the east and Macao to the south. UIC, jointly founded by Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), is the first full-scale collaboration between academic institutions from mainland China and Hong Kong. As a liberal arts college, UIC aims to produce graduates with an international perspective, fluent in both English and Chinese, with knowledge and experience of China, Hong Kong and the world at large. UIC offers undergraduate courses with English as the medium of instruction from four academic Divisions: Business & Management, Humanities & Social Sciences, Science & Technology and Culture & Creativity. As from this academic year, UIC starts to offer Research and Taught Postgraduate Programme leading to MPhil and PhD degrees as well as taught Master awards.

Director of General Education Office (Ref: GEO190201)
The General Education Office (GEO) currently offers both foundation courses and elective courses in a large range of disciplines. As an administrative unit, the GEO is responsible for ensuring the availability and quality of GE courses to students. It also has the responsibility to ensure that all GE courses at UIC are designed to align the programme intended learning outcomes (PILOs) of the General Education Programme (GEP) and the graduate attributes.
The appointee should be responsible for the day-to-day planning and implementation of the GEP within the College. S/he will liaise with Divisions, programmes and other teaching units concerning the General Education requirements and the course/teaching provisions from various academic units within the College. GEP courses include Languages and Culture, Information Management Technology, Numeracy, Applied/Business Ethics and Physical Education while General Education elective courses cover the following six categories of knowledge: Business and Communication, Foreign Languages and Cultures, Humanities, Music and Arts, Social Sciences, Science and Technology.
As head of the GEO and secretary of the Committee of General Education, the Director monitors the quality as well as the PILOs, demand analysis, and seat availability of both general education programme and elective courses. Therefore, the candidate should have a rich background in teaching, curriculum development and administrative management. Preference will be given to a candidate with rich experience in managing a general education programme at institutions of higher education and a broad liberal arts background.
The candidate should have a PhD degree with substantial managerial and leadership experience with broad vision and strategic foresight as well as a strong commitment to the promotion and implementation of liberal arts education. It is highly preferred that the candidates are familiar with the education system in Mainland China and bilingual in both English and Chinese.
Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two or three years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and medical insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
