The Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at Queen Mary University of London specialises in the knowledge and skills in commercial law that can be placed at the service of government, public bodies, overseas institutions, the legal profession, industry and commerce.

The Centre for Commercial Law Studies is a leading research Centre and hosts internationally excellent institutes in the field of international dispute resolution.

The post-holder will participate and actively contribute mainly to a major empirical research project on Impartiality and Investor State Dispute Settlement (at least 50%). The post-holder will also be involved in other ongoing research projects of the School of International Arbitration, including on arbitration of art disputes and the arbitrator’s status, rights and duties. The post-holder will be given sufficient time (20%) to develop their own research projects.

The post holder should have a PhD in a relevant discipline, and be able to demonstrate ability to conduct research taking a variety of methodological approaches, including doctrinal, theoretical and empirical. Experience or background in social science research would be highly desirable. The candidates should also be able to take an active role in the dissemination and impact activities, such as organisation of conferences, engagement with non-academic stakeholders and use of social media.

This post is full time and the starting salary will be in the range of £33,615-£39,483 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
