£30,395 - £39,610 per annum (PhD Awarded - Associate Level)

This is a superb opportunity to join a large and established interdisciplinary team working across the fields of Computer Science and Biology to deliver ground-breaking advances in synthetic biology. The main aim of the project is to develop a ‘virtual architecture’ that enables the reuse of genetic constructs on different organisms.

The project team is based between the Centre for Bacterial Cell Biology and the School of Computing. You will join the School of Computing’s ICOS group conducting cutting-edge research at the interface of computing science and complex biological systems.

You should have a strong background in formal verification using, for example, model checking and SAT/SMT techniques, in particular for stochastic systems. Working knowledge of differential equations and solid programming skills (C++) complete the required background is essential.

You should be committed to scientific rigor and possess excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills. You should have the capacity to travel to local and international stakeholder events and act as a representative of the project group with enthusiasm.

Please be advised that due to the minimum salary thresholds imposed by the UKVI, this post may not qualify for University sponsorship under Tier 2 of the points based system.

This is a full time, fixed term appointment for 24 months OR until 31st May 2021 (whichever is sooner).
