The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) Care Research and Technology Centre at Imperial is seeking an experienced Centre Manager interested taking on a challenging role with considerable responsibility and scope for personal growth. The post-holder will be the senior administrative officer for the UK DRI at Imperial, working closely with the Institute Associate Director, Prof David Sharp, and colleagues in the UK DRI Hub and centres to deliver on its ambitious 6-year plan. They will act as the principal liaison with both the funder and partner institutes.
The UK DRI at Imperial has been established to address a medical research area of highest importance and future impact as one of six new national centres of excellence embedded in major UK universities that together are intended to transform the diagnosis, treatment and care of people with dementias. MRC and charity partners Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK have invested £250m in fulfilment of the ambition identified in the Prime Minister's 2020 Challenge on Dementia.
As the senior administrative officer, the Centre Manager will provide support to the Institute Associate Director with finance, pre and post-award grant administration, HR (including senior academic recruitment), meeting and event organisation. The Centre Manager will liaise with investigators and administrative leads of the other centres to monitor and report key performance indicators for regular reporting to the UK DRI Hub and funders. An initial major task will be to act as the Centre lead for construction and fit out of the laboratory and office facilities of the UK DRI which will be housed at the College’s White City Campus from 2019. Another early task will be to lead in the development of administrative processes for the UK DRI at Imperial. As well as developing and implementing a communications strategy, with the support of specialist teams within the Department of Medicine and wider College, and the national UK DRI office.
The role will be highly visible, both within Imperial College and externally. The Centre Manager will act as the first point of contact for external queries relating to the UK DRI at Imperial, for both internal staff (PIs and their researchers, core administrative functions, etc), and external stakeholders.
The contract is fixed term to 31st March 2025.
