The salary range will be £35,328 - £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Department of Biochemical Engineering specialises in the design of novel mechanical devices for the discovery of improved methods for the cost-effective and safe production of therapeutic materials.
The postholder will be required to design, construct and maintain such devices (and associated documentation) for use at the university site and industrial sites. He/she will also support delivery of other devices as part of the wider work load within the High Precision Design & Fabrication Facility; respond quickly to the needs of the research staff and work to strict timescales; assist with evaluation and ordering of new instruments and equipment.
This post is full-time and benefits include 27 days’ annual leave plus public holidays and additional days when UCL is customarily closed, a pension scheme and interest- free season ticket loan.
The post holder must have HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related skills and must be well versed in workshop principles.
The ability to read engineering drawings is a key desired skill and experience with CAD/CAM and CNC would be invaluable.
The successful candidate will be sufficiently creative to be able to work from sketches and verbal instructions. A good knowledge of engineering materials and their use is required.
