Our department

Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management (DMEM) provides a unique offering -  combining end-to-end multidisciplinary expertise from creative design, through engineering design, manufacturing and management of the entire system. DMEM also houses the UK’s Advanced Forming Research Centre.

DMEM are looking for candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Product Design Engineering/Engineering Design

     -    interaction/ergonomics, form/aesthetics, design theory/models, creativity/creative methods, user centred design and emotion/experience

  • Engineering Management

     -    business model development, decision making, modelling and optimisation, information and knowledge management, innovation management, forecasting, planning and control, performance measurement, quality and process management, supply chain and manufacturing sustainability assessment, systems engineering, operations management, through-life engineering

  • Digital Manufacturing including Manufacturing Robotics

     -    Industry 4.0, including reconfigurable manufacturing, Internet of Things and robotics for manufacture, smart decommissioning and remanufacture

Depending on the skills and experience of the applicant, this may be a cross disciplinary joint appointment, e.g. with the department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, or Computer and Information Sciences.
