Based within the Department of Psychological Sciences, you will be delivering this Level 6 option module to students on our BSc Psychology programme. 

Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment on the module, which runs on Fridays, 6-8.30pm from 17th January 2020 - 28th March 2020 (10 teaching weeks, no class on 21st February 2020). 

The module aims to help students acquire a comprehensive understanding of cognitive behavioural therapy as it is used within the NHS. It is delivered across two classroom groups and you will work with another lecturer to ensure consistency of provision. You will be required to teach all sessions for your group, and mark their essays and examinations.

In addition to the criteria specified in the job pack, the minimum requirements for selection are listed below:

  • A first degree in Psychology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant teaching experience, ideally working with adult students within the FE/HE sector. 
  • Experience of teaching clinical or counselling psychology at undergraduate level
  • A qualification in CBT or relevant professional experience.
  • A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm.
  • Experience of, or a willingness to develop, a wide range of teaching and assessment methods. 
  • Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of relevant contexts.
  • A working knowledge of IT including Word, Excel, email and experience of/willingness to use Moodle, a virtual learning environment.    
  • You must be particularly able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate.

 You must be willing to engage in reflective practice.

Remuneration:

Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £60.77 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
