Hubei Polytechnic University (HBPU for short) invites applications for part time instructors to teach undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2020. Candidates will be working in Huangshi, Hubei Province, China, in a joint program with a U.S. university. 

Course Description:

  1. Statics and Dynamics:(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between 17th February-10th April, 2020)– Part-time instructor to teach one or more courses. This course will introduce to the students to the essence of static equilibrium as well as the kinematics and dynamics of particles and rigid bodies in motion. Concepts of free-body-diagrams, load-shear-moment diagrams, as well as principles of motion of mechanical systems and concepts of inertia, work, energy, impulse and momentum will be discussed and applied.  
  2. General Chemistry I with Lab:(96 teaching hours, 6 weeks, between 17th February-27th March, 2020)- Part-time instructor to teach one or more courses. Topics include the composition of matter, the mole, stoichiometry, atomic structure, molecular bonding and structure, thermochemistry and gases. Emphasis is placed on problem-solving techniques. The laboratory offers experiments to supplement the lecture material. 
  3. Electrical Circuit Principle :(64 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between 17th February-10th April, 2020)– Part-time instructor to teach one or more courses .Course addresses the concepts and the fundamental of principles of circuit theory including, Ohm's Law and resistive circuits, Kirchhoff's current (KCL) and voltage laws, (KVL).  Basic DC circuit analysis and network theorems, such as nodal and loop analysis, and equivalent circuit concepts. Series resistors and voltage division. Parallel resistors and current division. The study of capacitors, inductors will be covered; 
  4. Applied Statistics and Probability for Engineers:(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between 17th February-10th April, 2020)– Part-time instructor to teach one or more courses. An introduction to applied statistical and probability methods for engineers who will encounter statistics in their professional lives. Topics include basic combinatorics, random variables, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, linear regression and control charts. Statistical computer packages will be used in connection with some of the material studied.  

Requirements:

  1. Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or closely related field is required for undergraduate instruction.
  2. High level English speaker is preferred;
  3. Patient and enthusiastic for teaching with high sense of responsibility;
  4. Ideally 3 years’ teaching or training experience is preferred;
  5. Understanding American higher education system, assessment methods and requirements.

Compensation and Salary

  1. Competitive and Negotiable salary;
  2. Assist on visa application;
  3. One round trip airfare from the instructor’s city to Huangshi shall be provided;
  4. A free apartment on campus shall be provided;
  5. Pick-up service shall be provided.
