The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (“University”) is established in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools upon approval of the Ministry of Education. It inherits the educational philosophy and academic systems of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is intended to develop into a world-class research university with strong Chinese cultural influence. The School of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) HSS has two missions. First, HSS provides university core curriculum for all students, including general education, English language competency, Chinese cultural heritage and language competency, physical education, basic competency in information technology applications.
Beyond the university core curriculum, HSS intends to develop to become a school of excellence in humanities and social sciences, and to provide high-quality programmes in multiple areas at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including, but not limited to, translation & interpreting studies, simultaneous interpreting, applied psychology, international affairs & international relations (global studies), internet and new media, advanced English communication, urban studies, educational studies, sociological studies. The University recruits first-class faculty members from around the world, and we welcome high caliber faculty of diverse background from around the world to join us and establish a top-tier School of Humanities and Social Science in China.
Post Specification
Applicants should have (i) a higher degree, at least at MPhil level or above, in Chinese language and literature or a related field; (ii) proven record of teaching excellence at tertiary level; (iii) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship; (iv) excellent communication skills in Putonghua and a good command of written and spoken English.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) teaching University Chinese for all undergraduates, and possibly also other undergraduate courses related to Chinese culture within the University General Education Programme; (b) designing e-learning materials; and (c) assisting in curriculum development and administrative assignments.
The appointee is expected to commence work in the academic year of 2019-20.

Salary will be competitive, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK(SZ) and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable to the PRC. The appointee will be based in Shenzhen, China.
