The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years. We provided the first convincing evidence that DNA damage is the basic cause of cancer, laying the foundation for the now universally accepted idea that cancer is a genetic disease. Today, The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) leads the world at isolating cancer-related genes and discovering new targeted drugs for personalised cancer treatment.

Under the leadership of our Chief Executive, Professor Paul Workman FRS, the ICR is ranked as the UK’s leading academic research centre. Together with our partner The Royal Marsden, we are rated in the top five cancer centres globally.

The ICR is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.

The laboratory of Professor Terry Rabbitts FRS is currently recruiting a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Training Fellow to work in his Intracellular Antibody Therapeutics Team within the ICR Division of Cancer Therapeutics based in Sutton. The role is funded for 3 years in the first instance, and will involve implementing innovative strategies to develop and use nanoparticles as delivery vehicles for nucleic acids coding for the expression of inhibitory antibody fragments. The antibody fragments will target the products of chromosomal translocations, in particular protein fusions like the MLL fusions in leukaemias but also mutant proteins such as the RAS family of proteins in a wide spectrum of human cancers.

Informal enquiries about on-going projects can be made to Terry Rabbitts (e-mail: Terry.Rabbitts@icr.ac.uk).  Please Note - this email address is for enquiries only. To apply please submit online application on the ICR Careers site, attaching your CV with the supporting statement (addressing with specific examples where you meet the person specification, a brief description of your research experience and incl. the names and addresses of at least two referees).

For more details, please refer to the job description and person specification.
