The Hertie School is looking for a

Postdoctoral Researcher - International Security (f/m/div)

on a full-time (40 hours/week) basis.

The contract shall commence as of 01 April 2020 and is initially limited for three years. The successful candidate will be part of our Centre for International Security.

Your tasks:

  • Your main tasks will be to further develop your own independent research programme with relevance for the Centre; your research should fit with one or several of our key research areas (grand strategy, nuclear security, states and non-state actors, digital technology and security)
  • Your goal should be to publish relevant research in leading peer-reviewed journals
  • In addition, you may be asked to teach one semester-long course per year for our master students on a security topic
  • You will also be contributing to the core activities of the Centre for International Security, such as helping with the organisation of the Centre's research colloquium, workshops or other events 

Your profile:

  • PhD or equivalent in international security or related fields
  • Proven track record of academic excellence
  • Teaching experience in the field of international security
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills; proficiency in German is an asset
