The purpose of the role is to provide business analysis to support the delivery of the Student Information Management Programme (SIMP). This role has responsibility for delivering the College’s vision of an excellent student and staff experience; empowered staff; and integrated systems. The aim is to identify requirements, opportunities for enhancement and potential solutions for key operational functions of student administration; this may include focus on a specific area of cross-functional activity such as user experience, process architecture, data architecture or system integration. The post holder will work closely with Registry colleagues, academic departments and the SIMP Team. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will facilitate stakeholder workshops and user groups to identify and document key business requirements
  • You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance services to key stakeholders including students and academic staff
  • You will have a responsibility for identifying opportunities to improve business processes including opportunities to increase efficiency, remove duplication or reduce wasted effort
  • You will create and maintain relevant programme-level artefacts relevant to the area of focus; this may include, for example data dictionaries, decision workbooks, process maps and/or system integration business rules

Essential requirements

  • Experience of business analysis, including identifying requirements and proposing solutions
  • Broad experience, acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable on-the-job experience, demonstrating development through involvement in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a workload independently within general guidelines using judgment to resolve queries and escalate issues which require further attention
  • The ability to elicit cooperation from busy colleagues, including academic staff
