Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work under the supervision of Dr Andrew Lawrence on a project funded by the European Research Council.
The successful candidate will work on projects focused on the development of novel catalytic enantioconvergent methodology. You can find out more about the Lawrence research group at www.lawrence-group.org. Applicants should have a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up the appointment). This position is ideally suited to ambitious early career researchers with expertise in synthetic organic chemistry. You should be able to design and execute new synthetic sequences and possess a strong appreciation of modern catalytic methods. Applicants must have a proven track record of successfully completing research projects. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Duties will include managing own academic research and administrative activities, small-scale project management, coordinating multiple aspects of research, acting as a source of information and advice to other members of the group, preparation of data and papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and representing the research group at external meetings.
The post will be based in the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. The position is full time (35 hours per week) and available for 18 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to contact Dr Andrew Lawrence (a.lawrence@ed.ac.uk) for informal inquiries about the positions (please include a CV, short research summary (1 page) and contact details for two referees).
