Merton College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Spanish for Michaelmas Term 2020 (1 October to 31 December 2020).

The main duties of the post will be: to teach undergraduates reading Spanish for up to six hours per week in full term, to assist in the co-ordination and administration of the subjects involving Spanish in the College, to provide pastoral support to students, and to assist with the undergraduate admissions exercise.

The successful candidate will have completed, or be about to complete, a doctorate in any period of Spanish literature, and will be able to provide teaching in: Spanish language at all levels; first-year literature papers from the medieval to the modern periods; and second- and final-year papers relating to the postholder’s specialist area (with preference for ability to teach papers in Golden Age and colonial literature). The ability to provide effective tutorial teaching to high-achieving undergraduates is essential.
