We are looking for a part time laboratory technician to support the ENACT project (Enabling Access to Covid Test samples) in Southampton. This post will work with University of Southampton research teams in the heart of the Southampton General Hospital, in an integrated fashion with the Clinical Research Facility laboratories, and the Southampton Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). These structures form part of the integrated clinical research structure in Southampton between the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Southampton in a unique partnership that is at the forefront of Covid19 research. We are also consistently in the top 5 of regional NHS Trust University partnerships with the highest recruitment of patients or healthy volunteers to clinical research.
This post is suitable for individuals with an interest in clinical research and some Biomedical Science knowledge or laboratory experience.You will have a responsible working attitude, who can display a high level of motivation with the ability to work as part of a team. Some previous experience or knowledge of Biomedical Science is desirable. You will be supported in thorough record keeping and database management for all processes undertaken for compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). You will gain an overall awareness of clinical research and develop laboratory skills for accurate processing and storage of clinical research samples within a team of research staff and NHS biomedical support workers.
