The University of Manchester invites applications for a Research Associate in Geo-Environmental Engineering, which is tenable for 6 months from 1 October 2020 (Grade 6.1). The position is funded by The University of Manchester’s GCRF Pump Priming grant for a project entitled "Tackling the Emission of Volatile Organic Compounds from Crude Oil Contaminated Lands in Nigeria by Developing Low-Cost Containment Systems (VOCaL)".
The primary aim of the project is to develop partnerships with key stakeholders in Nigeria, to enable follow up joint research activities and exploratory investigations for developing localised and sustainable containment systems, for addressing the VOC emissions from oil contaminated sites.
You will be responsible for partnership development with key stakeholders in Nigeria, organisation of an online workshop, data collection, laboratory experimentation, laboratory documentation and co-development of a relevant publication.
