Collaborative Projects Support Officer

Contract: Full Time, 1 year fixed contract from start date (potential for 2 year extension, funding permitting)

Location: This position will be based at the Singleton Campus, however can also work/hot desk from the Bay Campus.

The role provides support and guidance to academics, principal investigators and professional services, in work associated with the preparation, formulation and application for collaborative research project funding and award, as directed by the Strategic Partnership Manager. The post-holder will utilise the University’s Award Management System (AMS) to support, coordinate and progress proposals and funding applications and support the Strategic Partnership Manager, principal investigators, Research Hub teams and senior management in the coordination of these external UKRI collaborative project funding opportunities. The post holder will ensure that the standards are adhered to, ensuring that the highest quality of applications are developed, submitted and projects supported.

The post-holder will work closely with and support other colleagues in EIE and Research & Development Divisions of REIS, including liaising with the Impact & Engagement Team, central IP & Contracts support staff, bid writers and research hub teams to maintain an overview of all collaborative project and contracts in his/her portfolio.  There is also an expectation that the post holder will be required to work flexibly and support the Research Hubs in times of high workload and demand.

Qualification:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Experience of working in partnership with external stakeholders and industry to achieve successful outcomes within defined timescales.
• Evidence of working in an outcome focussed environment with the ability to monitor performance against targets
• The ability to translate and synthesise research and innovation collaborations into clear, concise written materials.
• Evidence of high quality writing copy for collaborative proposals and proof reading with demonstrable results.
• Experience of a creative approach to solve problems and generate innovative solutions to external collaborative income opportunities.
• Evidence of undertaking and scoping project costs and understanding market rates and/or funder guidelines.
• Experience of working in a marketing and or communications environment.
• Working in a complex multi-faceted organisation with often competing priorities.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent command of the English language with creative flair, measured by a portfolio of written materials such as funding applications, marketing publications, etc.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to speak authoritatively and persuasively to a variety of audiences.
• Appreciation of the University collaborative research and innovation environment in the UK
• An awareness of funding opportunities and regulations.
• Strong organisational skills with an ability to work with a number of stakeholders in the coordination of high quality and timely documents and funding proposals.
