We are looking to hire dedicated individuals to join our performing arts programmes at Edinburgh Napier University. With flexibility on hours (full or part time) we are looking for passionate professionals to join the team. We will be appointing to one of the following academic pathways: Research, Learning & Teaching or Professional Practice.
The performing arts programmes at Edinburgh Napier have achieved some remarkable things in the relatively short time we’ve been offering vocational acting, playwriting, and directing courses. Currently our BA acting graduates can be found in film and television productions for/by Netflix, Starz, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, HBO, and have been nominated for Olivier, and Ian Charleson awards. They have played leading roles at Bard in the Botanics, Regents Open Air Theatre, The National Theatre of Scotland, Dundee Rep, and the Royal National Theatre. Film successes include Best Actress, Arizona Film Festival; Best Actress, Bucharest Shortcut Cinefest; and Best Actress, Edinburgh International Short Film Festival
Following on from the national and international success of our BA Acting programmes, the next phase of our development will be to offer a postgraduate degree in Acting for Stage & Screen. Our current staff have multiple skills and strong industry links, and we’ll be looking for the same in these new roles.
You will be working with both undergraduate and postgraduate actors and directors and may be directing in-house or public shows. Most of the work is practice-based and will require an ability to work successfully with a range of student abilities over a variety of modules that include stage and screen acting, directing, voice, and festival production. The work will be based at our Merchiston campus.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for people that are passionate about teaching to join our highly regarded team. We currently have a 100% student satisfaction in the National Student Survey and we hope to find people with the dedication to retain that level of student fulfilment.
We hope to fill 2 or 3 posts and will consider full or part time hours depending on each applicant’s requirements. We are looking for a variety of skill sets to fill these roles based on the following essential requirements:
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who currently hold a PhD and those who are interested in becoming PHD qualified. We would also consider applications with significant professional practice experience and evidence of income generation.
