The New College of Humanities at Northeastern wishes to appoint up to two part-time Assistant Professors (Teaching & Scholarship) in Computer Science (0.5 FTE).
We wish to appoint specialists in Computer Science including, but not limited to, software engineering, web and mobile application development, and machine learning. The appointee(s) will be flexible, able, and willing to be wide-ranging in their teaching and in their professional development. The appointee(s) will be able to work closely on teaching and education matters with colleagues from other disciplines, including fields of the humanities such as Philosophy. Preference may be given to candidates with active interests in the relationship of Computer Science to one or more of the following areas: technology; employment contexts; diversity and inclusion.
Core duties will include teaching courses for the Masters in Computer Science, as well as any other programmes and courses involving computer science, as required. Core duties will include teaching across a sufficiently wide range of areas as to enable the institution to deliver the Masters in Computer Science, as well as wider educational and administrative duties. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the continuing establishment and development of Computer Science as an academic field within the institution, and to do so in interdisciplinary collaboration with other academic fields.
