The Adam Smith Business School are seeking to appoint an Associate Director of Learning & Teaching/Senior Lecturer in Learning, Teaching & Scholarship Track. This new post will make a significant and positive contribution to the leadership of learning and teaching in the Adam Smith Business School, through supporting and contributing to the delivery of the School’s learning and teaching strategy. Combined with academic duties, this post is one of four new roles that form a new team in the leadership of L&T and will involve working closely with the School’s Director of Learning and Teaching and other key stakeholders including subject heads and programme leaders, professional service colleagues, and student representatives.

The School has an ambitious strategy to develop enlightened, engaged, and enterprising graduates via research-informed, professionally focused, student-centred programmes of study. Alongside delivering an excellent learning experience that prepares our graduates to thrive in response to future challenges and disruption.

The School is seeking to recruit individuals from across the main disciplinary areas of the Business School who have an outstanding potential and a proven track record in relation to:

  • making a significant and positive contribution to progressing the learning and teaching culture in the School in line with the wider University learning and teaching strategy
  • the capacity to instigate and lead learning and teaching initiatives of strategic importance, and in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • supporting and sustaining communities of practice in learning and teaching
  • the leadership of academic programmes
  • the development and delivery of innovative business education
  • a sustained track record in continuous professional development around learning and teaching.

The leadership part of this post is for three years, with the main academic function being substantive.

The School is triple accredited and is a research-informed and professionally-focused business school. The School has achieved the Athena SWAN Bronze award and actively encourages an inclusive culture promoting gender equality and welcomes applications from underrepresented groups.

We welcome applications from candidates with a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD), or equivalent, in a business school related discipline with an extensive and established reputation in scholarship, and significant teaching experience in business and management (including accounting, finance and economics).
