We are seeking to appoint highly motivated Carpenters to join the Maintenance Services team, within Estates, offering a reactive service and maintaining all doors, windows, locks and the internal/external building fabric in University owned properties across all our campuses and sites. You will need the confidence and ability to fault find, install, maintain, repair and replace all associated fixtures and fittings. Our team operate a 36-hour working week and the successful candidates will also have the opportunity to join our on-call rota offering a 24/7 service to the University. The call out duty attracts a generous stand by allowance and overtime payments for all call outs.

You will have:

  • Experience in all aspects of planned, preventive and day to day reactive maintenance issues and awareness of current statutory requirements.
  • A willingness to work flexibly on a number of different issues whilst maintaining a high standard of work. Working with other teams and on your own.
  • A proven competency as a Carpenter.
  • Knowledge in the use of fixed woodworking machinery in accordance with the P.U.W.E.R. Act 1998.
  • An understanding of Health & Safety.
  • General IT Knowledge.
  • A current driving licence (driving between campuses).
