Job overview

This is a new post for a one year project funded by charity to to develop a disease-specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) in women who have had pelvic mesh surgery. 

Main duties of the job

To undertake research to develop a disease-specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) in women who have had pelvic mesh surgery. To provide input into experimental design and ethics applications. To analyse and interpret experimental data and write-up results for publication

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree plus PhD in psychology (or related subject) awarded or recently submitted

Desirable criteria

  • GCP trained

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Research undertaken in a relevant field
  • Experience of writing concise but comprehensive reports/papers
  • Undertaken applied qualitative and/or quantitative research projects that includes the analysis of data

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of drafting proposals and applications to external bodies.
  • A record of presenting papers at conferences and of publishing peer reviewed research papers
  • Experience in qualitative interviews
  • Experience in developing and validating questionnaires

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to the research area
  • Ability to critically analyse data using quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Ability to think innovatively
  • Ability to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure
  • Ability to demonstrate self-direction and originality in tackling and solving research problems
  • Knowledge of research design and methods
  • Knowledge of research ethics and governance
