As a Senior Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering a range of BARBRI courses both online and Face to Face. This will include updating and developing course material and delivering training and mentoring sessions across BARBRI’s course programmes. The Senior Tutor will either take responsibility for developing BARBRI’s programmes or act as a Programme Lead and will establish a very close working relationship with the Senior Director and Directors of Learning.

You will be a part of a talented Learning Team and will maintain BARBRI’s relationships with external agents and partners. You will have a background in Legal Practice or Legal Education and experience of delivering courses directly to a range of candidates or their employers seeking to enhance their professional qualifications and practice skills.

Position Responsibilities 

  • To participate in and oversee the delivery of SQE1 student mentoring services, and to provide SQE2 tutor student feedback.
  • To participate in the mentoring and delivery of any other BARBRI programme as required e.g. assisting with the delivery, where necessary, of ‘Prep for Practice’ workshops, either to BARBRI B2C customers, or for institutions that have contracted with BARBRI to provide courses to their students, both face to face and online
  • To participate in regular learning coach ‘office hours’ sessions for students.
  • As a qualified solicitor/barrister, to provide student and examination support to SQE students for academic and study questions outside the classroom.
  • To design and review new and existing course programmes or take responsibility for a given course as Programme Lead.
  • To carry out supporting sales activities to offer academic supporting advice to the sales teams.
  • From the initial point of contact to enrolment, to work with the sales team ensuring active engagement with prospective students, nurturing their interest through one-to-one discussions; to encourage attendance at open days and drop-ins; to provide timely helpful advice on eligibility and studying for the SQE exams.
  • To work with the Operations team in the organisation, academic staffing and delivery of SQE2 mock examinations and to attend and participate as an assessor in SQE2 mock examinations.
  • To assist in the recruitment and training of further student learning coaches

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or other relevant education level
  • A qualified solicitor (on the roll) or barrister of England & Wales
  • Prior academic or professional support teaching experience or other teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience is preferred
  • Experience of developing new programmes or leading academic or skills programmes
  • Understanding of the needs of an undergraduate, postgraduate and professional legal audience
  • Ability to communicate key messages to our customer
  • Ability to communicate at a professional level
  • Ability to line manage a small team
  • Experience in a legal organisation, financial business or law firm is desirable

Travel Requirements: Some business travel will be required, including monthly meetings in London
